The coach certifies the belt. If he is not here, we verify it.

No editorial team, no community votes. The main road is certification by the coach, linked to a claimed gym. When the coach is not here — not a member, or never will be — BJJ Square staff verify the belt against a proof. Two levels, both spelled out row by row.

How to get in

Two roads. The first one is the good one; the second exists because the first is not always possible.

The coach certifies it

The athlete records the promotion and names who gave it. That person gets the request and confirms. Nobody can certify their own belt, and whoever confirms must be an owner or instructor of a claimed gym: that is what makes the confirmation checkable.

Or BJJ Square verifies it

If the coach is not a member — and sometimes never will be — staff look at the belt: a document, a federation card, a public source, or a person we know face to face. The row reads “verified by BJJ Square”, never “certified by the coach”.

Adult belts only, one row per person

Blue and up. Kids belts stay out of any public list of people. Each person appears once, at the highest rank and the highest level they hold.

Certified means one thing only: the named coach confirmed. Verified means we checked it ourselves. We do not judge the school, the lineage or the quality of the teaching. A real belt that is not here yet is no judgement on whoever wears it.

On lineage the two levels are not equal: with the coach’s certification the chain keeps going, one link at a time. When we verify it, the coach stays a hand-typed name and the chain stops there.
